John K de Beeld (84), of Abbotsford, BC, passed away Feb 11, 2024, surrounded by love of family and friends.
Born Nov 16, 1939, in Lethbridge AB, he spent most of his years living in BC, with a successful career that sent him to many interesting countries– Nigeria, Cameroon, Brazil and Romania - to name a few.
John is survived by his spouse Valentina de Beeld; his six children and their spouses (oldest to youngest): son Raymond and his spouse Linda de Beeld, daughter Diana and her spouse Larry McCann, his daughter Cheryl de Beeld, his daughter Mihaela and her spouse Chris, his daughter Maria and her spouse Cory and his son Radu and his spouse Alice; his 10 grandchildren Nicolaas, Michael, Devon, Lauren, Chloe, Adriana, Rhea, Caius, Matei and Juliette.
Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Hendrika de Beeld and siblings Lena Kwak, Alice Westaway, Leonard de Beeld and Rita Cameron.
His approach to life was ‘roll up your sleeves and get it done’ and his nature was to be the provider.
John had the ability to make close connections and friends easily. His down-to-earth and friendly personality drew people in and his vast circle of family and friends is a testament to that. Even through his battle with cancer, he kept his sense of humour and his outlook on life remained positive.
