A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take." Cardinal Meymillod
With great sadness we announce Louise Lowrie passed away due to Covid-19 in Abbotsford, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Lowrie, her parents Lulu and John Taylor, her sisters Anita and Beatrice, brothers, James (Jim), Cyril (Bud), and Gilbert (Butch). She is survived by her children Jackie (Les Sigal) Vernon, BC, Keith (Karen &Joel), Pitt Meadows, Kelvin, Abbotsford; her grandchildren Justin, Joel, Scott (Holly), Trevor (Cindy), Lisa (Dan), and Pamela (Chris); her great-grandchildren Felix, Ruby, Emmett, Madison, Ashley, Alex, Riley and Austin; as well as, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends including Josie Lowrie (Yung), Ruth & Ron, Gerard & Laurie, Wally & Norma to name a few.
Louise was born in Vancouver, BC and spent her early years in Hammond/Haney, Vancouver, BC attending school, playing sports, singing and working. After marrying Ray she travelled across Canada to CFB Chatham, NB then on to France as an Air Force wife. When the family returned to Canada there were several moves to different Air Force bases, Cold Lake, Alberta and finally North Bay, Ontario. While living in North Bay, she graduated as a Registered Nursing Assistant and worked in the psychiatric hospital. It was her calling – helping others. When dad retired from Service the family returned to Maple Ridge, BC. Louise spent many years working at River View Hospital until she retired with Ray to Missezula Lake near Princeton, BC. She enjoyed travelling (a bit), puttering in her garden (a lot), crafts (sometimes), cooking, baking and visiting with her neighbours. After Ray passed away Louise eventually moved back to the coast to be closer to her “family roots”. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s had taken her away from us in a different way. She spent the last two years residing at Tabor Home in Abbotsford, BC until her death. Louise will be remembered for her directness, helping others, unconditional love of her children, family and friends and her ability to smile regardless of her circumstances.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chan and all the staff at Tabor Home (in particular Kate, Ramin, Gerry, Darin, Big Dan, Allison and Elizabeth Ann) for their kindnesses and care for Louise during these extremely difficult times.
In respecting Louise’s wishes, she was cremated and there will not be a service. Those wishing to send messages of condolence to the family may do so at Fraser River Funeral Home www.frccs.com In lieu of flowers, donations in Louise’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC or Tabor Home Society, Abbotsford, BC.
