Ranjit Singh Diwana, age 86, passed away on Tuesday June 21, 2022 at Bevan Lodge in Abbotsford, BC.

Ranjit leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Rupinder Kaur Diwana (nee Mann), daughter Livleen Kaur Diwana, and his elder sister Harbans Kaur Dhanoa. Ranjit was also predeceased by his son, Amanpaul Singh Diwana (August 2021).

He was a learned man with a BA, BEd, MA, and MEd (from the Punjab University). He continued his studies at the Catholic University in Washington, DC towards his Ph.D before coming to work in Canada in 1966. Before moving to Abbotsford, BC in 1984, he taught High School English and History. Ranjit will be remembered as being a dedicated teacher of 14 years in Avonlea, Saskatchewan - where his students still remember him fondly.

Ranjit took pride in his service for the community in Abbotsford, BC as a coordinator of the Multicultural Services and as a cross-cultural resource person. In 1988, he was appointed as an advisor in the inaugural Advisory Committee on Cultural Heritage.

Ranjit cherished family and will be remembered for his gentle smile as he would share memories of his youth with us.
